Keeps life-saving medical equipment installed, maintained, calibrated and ready in hospitals and ambulances nationwide.

Provides day-to-day operational and implementation support to hospitals, district teams and the ambulance service.

Monitors hospital and ambulance performance through indicators, data quality assurance and evidence for decision-making.

Coordinates the National Surgical, Obstetric and Anaesthesia Plan to expand access to safe surgical care.

How it works

Leadership and workflow

1. Direction
The Chief Medical Officer and the Office of the Director set national hospital and emergency care priorities, policies and annual work plans.
2. Technical action
The five units translate those priorities into inspections, maintenance, operational support, surgical system strengthening and performance monitoring.
3. Delivery
Regional, district and tertiary hospitals plus the national ambulance service implement the agreed standards and plans.
4. Evidence & feedback
TA M&E consolidates data and findings from the field back to the Office of the Director, closing the loop for the next planning cycle.
